Neta Portal, 23, grew up in the southern region of Israel. She and her partner, Santi (Santiago), who immigrated to Israel with his family from Cordoba, Argentina when he was four years old, moved to Kibbutz Kfar Aza just a few months ago. On October 7,  Hamas terrorists broke into their apartment and shot them.

Despite being injured, Neta and Santi managed to escape by jumping out the window of their safe room, and Santi found them a place to hide a few streets over.

While Santi attempted to stop Neta from bleeding out from her wounds, Netta messaged her dad, a policeman, for help, and then they waited. Despite being fired upon by terrorists, Neta’s father was able to save the couple.

Now, as they recover, Neta and Santi are receiving support from The Jewish Agency’s Fund for Victims of Terror (FVOT). The FVOT, often the first responder for families and individuals impacted by terror, distributes immediate grants within 24-48 hours of a direct attack, offering support for short-term needs and helping with long-term rehabilitation and post-trauma care.
